The Other Man

I love the way she smiles at me
And the way she says my name
I like her knowing looks and
How she plays my little games
But sometimes when she're in my arms
I just don't understand
How I can't stop myself
And think about the other man

He doesn't know what's going on
He thinks her love is true
He doesn't seem to worry
When she roll in after two
So we keep going on
And running round and making plans
And no-one ever stops
To think about the other man

He's home alone, she's still at work
Or so the story goes
The car pulls up, the seat goes back
The truth he'll never know
And even when we're lying close
I just don't understand
How I can't stop myself
And think about the other man

She's lying through her teeth
He always takes her at her word
His head is buried in the sand
To hide him from the hurt
So we keep going on
And running round and making plans
And no-one ever stops
To think about the other man

I'm pulling up outside my house
The bedroom curtains closed
A man's shoes greet me at the door
And on the stairs his clothes
I hear my wife cry out his name
And now I understand the feeling of betrayal
Now that I'm the other man

I guess I should have known that
Karma bites back in the end
But never would have guessed
That she would be with my best friend
So I'll just move along
And try to make a whole new plan
And now I'll always stop
To think about the other man
And now I'll always stop
To think about the other man
